How to download TikTok stories before they disappear
A TikTok story is public for one day and then it is gone for good. Copying the link takes two taps, and saving the file takes one paste.
What a TikTok story actually is
A story is the short clip that sits behind the ring on a profile picture. It never lands on the grid with the normal posts, and TikTok removes it 24 hours after it goes up.
That short life is the whole problem. There is no archive to come back to later, so if you want to keep it, you have to keep it today.
Copy the link in two taps
In the app, open the story from the ring, tap Share, then Copy link. The link is now on your clipboard.
On a computer, the address bar already holds the link while the story is playing, so you can select it and copy it straight from there.
Paste it and pick your file
Open the TikTok story downloader, paste the link and press Download. Choose the MP4 for the clip, or the MP3 when only the sound matters.
The file comes down at the resolution TikTok serves, with no re encoding on the way through, so nothing looks softer than the original upload.
Where the file lands on each device
On iPhone, paste the link into Safari and the save sheet lets you choose Files or Photos.
On Android the MP4 goes straight to your Downloads folder. On a laptop it saves like any other file, which is the easiest way to keep several stories in a row.
Ordinary posts and reels work the same way

Privacy, credit and what cannot be saved
Nothing signs in as you, so your name never shows up in the viewer list and the account gets no notification.

Saving a clip for yourself is ordinary. Reposting it as your own work is not, so credit the creator or ask first.
