Instagram profile picture downloader

Instagram shows an avatar as a small circle and gives you no way to open it. Type a public username and the full size square comes back, ready to save.

Public accounts only. A private account cannot be read without following it, and we never ask you to sign in.

How to view a profile picture in full size

Type the username without the @, or paste the profile address, then press Get picture. The picture appears at the largest size Instagram publishes for that account.

Tapping and holding on the app only offers to copy the profile link, never the image, which is why the picture has to be fetched from outside the app.

What size to expect

Instagram stores avatars as a square, typically 320 by 320 pixels for a standard account. That is the source file, so nothing here can make it larger without inventing detail.

The circle you see in the app is that same square with a mask over it. Downloading gives you the uncropped version.

Doing this respectfully

Checking whether an account is really the person you think, or keeping your own old avatar, is fine. Reusing someone's face as your own picture, or building a fake profile from it, is impersonation.

Nothing here reaches a private account's picture at full size, and no account of yours is used, so the person is never notified.

Questions people ask

Can I see a private account's profile picture?

No. Only public profiles can be read, because we never sign in with an account.

Does the person know I looked?

No. Nothing is sent to them and no view is recorded.

Why is the image only 320 pixels?

That is the size Instagram itself stores for avatars. No tool can supply detail the platform never published.

Do I need an account or an app?

Neither. It runs in your browser with no sign in.

Do you store the picture?

No. It streams from the source to your device and no copy is kept.
