Why Reddit videos come out silent
Reddit hosts video on its own player, v.redd.it, and stores the video track and the audio track as separate files so it can adapt quality on the fly.
A right click and Save video as, or a screen recording app that grabs the source, only picks up the video track. The audio file is sitting at a different address entirely, so nothing tells your player to fetch it.
