How to watch a Facebook story here
Type the username or the page name that sits after facebook.com in the address bar. The lookup starts as soon as the name is complete, so there is nothing else to press.
Frames play in order with the progress bars along the top. Tap the right side for the next one, the left side to go back, and the pause button to hold a frame in place.
Pages, profiles and links
Public pages and public profiles both work. If you already have a story link, paste the whole address instead of a username and it resolves to the frames inside.

Watching and saving
Every frame carries a save button and the file comes down through your own browser at the resolution Facebook serves.
Stories expire 24 hours after posting, so a frame worth keeping has to be saved while it is still live.
What cannot be viewed
Anything limited to friends or a custom audience. Only what Facebook shows the public is reachable, because nothing here signs in as you.
That also means the account never sees your name in its viewer list, and no password is ever asked for.
Profiles and pages behave differently
A page is public by design, so a page story is nearly always reachable. Pages also post stories on a schedule, which is why a business account often has frames up when a personal profile has none.
A personal profile is public only if the person chose that. Facebook's default for stories is friends, so most profiles return nothing here, and that is the privacy setting working rather than a fault.
Facebook usernames are the part after facebook.com in the address bar. Some accounts have never set one and show a long numeric id instead, which works just as well when you paste the whole link.
What a Facebook story frame is made of
Photo frames come back as JPGs and clips as MP4s, both vertical, both at the size Facebook re-encodes to rather than the original camera file.
Text only stories, the ones on a coloured background, are stored as images too. Facebook renders the text into the picture before it stores it, so they save exactly as they appear.
Cross posted stories from Instagram show the same content on both platforms and resolve on either side, so use whichever link you already have.
Stories, reels and ordinary videos
A story link contains /stories/ and lives for twenty four hours. A reel link contains /reel/ and stays up until the poster removes it.
Watch parties, live broadcasts and videos inside private groups are not stories and do not resolve here, even while they are running.

Why a public page can still return nothing
The page simply has no live story. Stories are far less used on Facebook than on Instagram, so an empty result is common.
The page is age restricted or region restricted, which Facebook enforces before any content is served.
The name was typed as a display name rather than a username. Acme Coffee Roasters and acmecoffee are different strings, and only the second one is an address.
