Instagram story viewer
An Instagram story viewer that runs in your browser rather than the app. Type a public username, see every frame that is up right now, and keep whichever ones you want. You watch anonymously and need no account.
Public accounts only. A private account cannot be read without following it, and we never ask you to sign in.
How it works
Paste the link or drop your file, nothing to install.
We fetch the media and pick the best available quality.
Save the result straight to your device, no sign up.
Why people use it
Files stream straight to your device. We keep no copy of the video or the link.
No sign up, no email, no tracking pixel. Paste a link and save the file.
Every tool on the site is free to use, with no daily download cap.
We pick the highest stream the source offers, up to 4K where it exists.
One paste, one click. No queues, no waiting rooms, no forced ads between steps.
Runs in any modern browser on phone, tablet and desktop. Nothing to install.
How to view a story here
Type the username without the @ and press Get stories. Every frame that is live at that moment loads on the page, photos in one tab and clips in the other.
Frames play right here, so you can watch a whole story through without opening the Instagram app or signing in anywhere.
Stories, highlights and posts
A username pulls whatever is live in the last 24 hours. A highlight link pulls the frames saved inside that highlight, which stay up until the owner removes them.
Regular feed posts and reels are a different thing, so send those to our [Instagram downloader](/instagram-downloader) instead.
Watching and keeping are different steps
Every frame has a save button, and the download runs through your own browser at the original resolution.
Stories expire 24 hours after posting, so a frame you want to keep has to be saved while it is still up. Our [story downloader](/instagram-story-downloader) is the same engine with saving front and centre.
What cannot be viewed
Private accounts. Only what Instagram shows the public is reachable, so an account that has to approve followers is not readable by any honest tool, and anything claiming otherwise wants your password.
Expired frames are also gone for good unless the owner kept them as a highlight, in which case paste the highlight link instead of the username.
How a story is actually built
A story is a queue of separate frames rather than one long video. Each frame carries its own timestamp, which is why the ones posted this morning vanish while this afternoon's stay up.
Photo frames hold for five seconds in the app and video frames run up to sixty seconds each. A long story is simply many frames in a row, and each one expires on its own clock.
Watching here loads the frames that are live at that moment. Refreshing an hour later can show a shorter story, because the earliest frames have already fallen out of the window.
Reading the frames without the app's pressure
Inside the app a frame advances on a timer whether you are finished with it or not, and a stray tap skips a whole account.
On this page each frame sits still until you move on, so a menu, a price list, a phone number or an address is readable without three attempts and a screenshot.
That also makes it practical to check a competitor's story properly, since you can go back to a frame without restarting their whole queue.
Highlights are the archive
The circles under a profile bio are highlights, and each one is a set of stories the owner chose to keep past the day.
Highlight links are the only story addresses that still resolve months later, so they are worth using when you are researching an account's older material.
Ordering inside a highlight is the owner's choice rather than chronological, which is why the newest frame is not always last.
When nothing loads
Most often the account simply has no live story. Instagram gives no signal from the outside between a quiet account and a failed lookup.
A username typed with an @, a trailing space, or a display name instead of the handle all fail the same way. The handle is the text in the address bar after instagram.com.
Accounts sometimes flip between public and private. A profile that worked last week can be closed today, and that setting is respected rather than worked around.
Good to know
The account will not see you in its viewer list
Stories are fetched by our server, not by your Instagram account, so your name does not show up among the people who watched.
Anonymous story viewerOnly public accounts
Stories from private accounts are only for approved followers, so they cannot be viewed here.
Instagram story downloaderNothing shows means nothing is live
Stories vanish after 24 hours. If the profile shows no stories, the account simply has none up right now.
Profile picture downloaderQuestions people ask
Do I need an Instagram account?
No. There is no login step here at all, so a browser is enough.
How long do stories stay viewable?
Twenty four hours from posting. After that only highlights remain, and those load from a highlight link.
Can I view a private account's story?
No. Private stories are only visible to approved followers and no tool can reach them without one.
Can I save what I watch?
Yes. Each frame has a save button and the file comes down at the resolution Instagram serves.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. It runs in the browser you already have on iPhone and Android, with no app to install.
Does the account see that I watched?
No. Nothing signs in as you, so no row is added to their viewer list and no notification goes out.
Can I go back to a frame I already passed?
Yes. The frames stay on the page, so you can move back and forth freely instead of restarting the story.
Why do polls and question stickers not respond?
Interactive stickers need a signed in account to register an answer. They appear as part of the picture here, because Instagram draws them into the stored frame.
Are close friends stories visible?
No. A close friends story is limited to a list the owner controls, so it stays out of reach without an account on that list.
