Instagram story widget

An Instagram story widget puts a public account's live stories on your own website. Pick the username, choose the look, copy the snippet, paste it in. Nothing to sign up for and no invoice arriving a month later. It drops onto any website free, with no code to write.

Free, with no limit

Every tool on the site is free to use, with no daily download cap.

Original quality

We pick the highest stream the source offers, up to 4K where it exists.

Built for speed

Works everywhere

Runs in any modern browser on phone, tablet and desktop. Nothing to install.

How to embed your stories

Type the username you want to show, without the @. Pick grid or story tray, light or dark, rounded or square corners, and how many tiles to display.

The preview updates as you change each setting, so what you see is what your visitors get. When it looks right, press Copy embed code and paste the snippet wherever HTML is allowed on your site.

Where the snippet works

Anywhere that accepts an iframe, which is nearly everywhere. WordPress in a Custom HTML block, Webflow in an Embed element, Shopify in a custom liquid section, Squarespace in a Code block, Wix in an Embed HTML widget, or a plain static page.

The widget is responsive, so it fills the width of whatever column you drop it into and reflows on phones.

It stays current on its own

The widget reads the account each time a visitor loads the page, with a short cache in between so a busy page never hammers anything. New stories appear without you touching the code again.

When nothing is live, the widget says so quietly rather than leaving a broken box on your page.

What it costs and what it collects

Nothing, and nothing. No sign up, no per view pricing tier, no watermark across your tiles. A small powered by link sits under the header and that is the whole exchange.

No visitor data is collected by the widget and no cookie is set. The frames stream from Instagram's own servers to the visitor.

What a story widget is for

A widget puts the stories from a public account onto your own page, so a visitor sees today's activity without leaving the site.

It suits venues, shops and events, where the story is where the current information actually lives.

Because stories expire, the block empties on its own. That is the point, an old story cannot sit stale on your homepage.

Fitting it into a page

The embed is an iframe, so it drops into any site that lets you paste HTML, including builders that offer a custom code block.

Give it a container with a set width and let the height follow, and it will behave on a phone as well as a desktop.

Placing it below the fold usually works better than above it, since a visitor who has not scrolled yet is looking for what the page is, not what happened this morning.

Public accounts only

The widget reads what the profile shows publicly. A private account has nothing readable from outside and will show as empty.

Close friends stories never appear, because they are limited to a list the owner controls.

If a profile switches to private later, the block simply stops filling rather than breaking the page.

Questions people ask

Is the Instagram story widget really free?

Yes. There is no plan, no trial and no view cap. Most embed tools charge monthly once you pass a small quota, this one does not.

Do I need an Instagram account or an access token?

No. Only public accounts are read, so there is nothing to authorise and no token to keep alive.

Can I embed someone else's stories?

Technically yes for a public account, but show your own or an account you have permission to feature. Stories are the poster's work.

Will the widget slow my page down?

No. The iframe is lazy loaded and the tiles load only when the widget scrolls into view.

What happens when the stories expire?

Stories drop off after 24 hours and the widget updates itself. If nothing is live it shows a short message instead of empty tiles.

Do I need to connect my Instagram account?

No. It reads a public profile by handle, so there is no login and no token to keep alive.

How often does it refresh?

It reads current stories when the page loads, so a visitor always sees what is live at that moment.

Will it slow my page down?

It loads in its own frame after the page, so the rest of your content is not held up waiting for it.
